As a child and family therapist my job is to help children navigate their world through a systems, strength-based team approach.  I provide individual and group therapy to children ages 4-13 with a variety of different needs.  I approach therapy through an understanding of who may patients are and together exploring and learning about all aspects of the world they are living in.

I work with children who are struggling with anxiety, depression, attachment issues, trauma, oppositional or defiant behaviors, and relationship difficulties due to weaknesses in social skills. I provide parent coaching to support the family system along with individual therapy for you child; and I can support your family and child during times such as divorce, separation, family dynamic struggles, and death. I also provide support to children for executive functioning weakness and school struggles, and help you as their parent with best practices at home for homework support.

I use a variety of therapeutic modalities when working with children depending on the unique needs of the child and family system; to include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Functional Family Therapy.

Working with children and families for over twenty years, I have learned the value of collaborating as a team with parents, teachers, and anyone else impacting the child and believe that until you truly understand what someone is experiencing you cannot fully help them.  Listening, learning, and understanding my patients wholly is central to my work with them and the family.

I am led by my Christian faith; that God has created all of us with a significance and purpose in this world.  My belief as a Christian therapist is to be helpful and supportive to those around me who may be suffering or walking through a difficult time.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Seattle Pacific University and my Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Calvin College.  I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, treatment centers, group homes, and outpatient care.

My hope is that through my work with your child, I can provide skills and insights that will support you and your family during your current circumstances and will lay the groundwork for your child’s future success and well-being.
